Peacocks have been inconvenient residents of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the San Gabriel Valley for quite a long time, annihilating nurseries, hindering traffic, leaving droppings on rooftops and shrieking.
Causing neighbors a deep sense of dismay, a few residents leave out seeds and pieces of bread for the colorfully feathered birds.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors concluded that taking care of peacocks is a crime, making it an offense in unincorporated regions and the 44 urban areas that agreement with the county animal control department.
Misdemeanors are punishable by up a half year in prison, a fine of up to $1,000 or both.
